Photo Tours and Workshops in Hong Kong.
3 and 5-day Street Photography Workshops in one of the most exciting cities with a professional photographer

LIFE ON STREETS / HONG KONG

Hong Kong is alive and kicking, brilliant for street photography. Lots of things to see, lots of things to explore, a picture around every corner…
Hong Kong is a mix of cultures, the new and the old, you will find traditional Chinese temples and modern skyscrapers. Think about exploring a vibrant city with its streets and photogenic highlights with a photographer who will show you the way…

“You can leave Hong Kong, but it will never leave you.” - Nury Vittachi

Our 3 or 5-day Hong Kong photography workshops are mostly about street photography. We’ll teach you about composition, light, camera settings and… the moment!
But there’s more! Besides walking and exploring the streets of different areas in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon we will show you the best spots, the city’s highlights.

And… did I mention the gorgeous Hong Kong Chicken Curry? The best, I would say…

“Learn how to photograph the moment while exploring the streets of Hong Kong. Not only will you learn how to shoot on the streets with more confidence, you will also learn how to choose your best work and post-process your images to create beautiful photographs with impact, photographs that tell a story”

Besides Street Photography we'll also focus on portraits, architecture, sceneries and details. We will be exploring local markets, Chinese temples, urban landscapes and an abandoned fishing village.

Locations and Hong Kong highlights will be build in such as Central, Victoria Peak, Kwun Tong, Mong Kok, Wan Chai and Quarry Bay, Soho, Tsim Sha Tsui, Victoria Harbour and more.

The Hong Kong Street Photography Workshops include critique sessions, a night shoot, a personal assigment and post-production sessions, so please bring your laptop (or tablet)
For analog shooters there are possibilities in Hong Kong to process your films within 24 hours with options to put your images onto cd-rom.

The Hong Kong Street Photography Tour/Workshops are…
for all levels from the beginner, to the serious amateur, professional photographers and enthusiasts who want to make better pictures in the streets in small groups (2-6 persons for the best approach, guidance and teaching)

Eric d Vries, that’s me… professional photographer, instructor… I have held a camera in my hands for as long I can remember. I have worked as a professional photographer for 25 years after starting as an assistant-photographer during a 2-year study at FotoVakSchool in The Netherlands. I have photographed for a long list of corporations and product manufacturers while working in a photo studio but also did press photography for a couple of newspapers and magazines back in the 90s. For the past seven years I have been instructing photo tours and workshops in Cambodia for my own business Photo Cambodia and also for a number of exclusive travel companies.

My mission is to show you the best spots and locations during your photo tour and workshop, by sharing my experience and my knowledge of photography to help you understand your equipment and achieve your goals, and to take you on incredible photo tours and workshops that will inspire you for the rest of your life.

Home base in Cambodia for more than 9 years (after visiting the beautiful country for the first time in April 2000) I live with my wife and two kids in Siem Reap, close the temples of Angkor…

When walking the Hong Kong streets I use these cameras at the moment:
Fuji X-Pro1, Fuji X100T, Fuji XE-1 and Canon QL rangefinder

The latest Hong Kong Workshops review

I did a Hong Kong Photo tour with Eric de Vries in October 2016. I know Eric from a prior photo tour in Cambodia so I knew this one would be just perfect. And it was. We explored the city and saw places hardly any tourist sees. Some really well hidden gems like an abandoned fisherman´ village or hardly known rooftops, but then also the classic places. Eric teaches street photography, working on your composition and, if needed, Lightroom and a bit photoshop. But certainly, the target is to get the picture perfect in the camera. I am sure you will enjoy a tour with Eric because it will improve your (street) photography, because then also you will get to know Hong Kong in a unique way. I highly recommend the tour - a true five out of five stars experience! Jörn Seidenschnur / Berlin, Germany

Some latest Cambodia Photo Tours and Workshops reviews

I spent a day with Eric at the Temple Complex and I am so grateful I did. He mentored me to take some of the most beautiful pictures I have ever taken (I have been a photographer for 37 years) and as a result, he has rejuvenated my interest in still photography. We spent a total of nine hours in Eric's company but it was so much fun that it felt like it was over too quick. Eric is a great tutor, polite, helpful and with a great sense of humour. I rarely write reviews on Tripadvisor but when I discover something as good as this, I feel it is worth sharing with others. Highly recommended. Ian B / Warwick, UK

Amazing experience with Eric . I booked 3 days with Eric and I explained to him before I came that I was a novice in photography. I totally recommend Eric to novices and experts alike. He knows the best places, times, subjects etc and he is a great teacher. He doesn't tell you what to do but advises. He has patience and encourages you to experiment to get good results . He is also serious however he has a good sense of humour and is great to get on with. There was never a dull moment. I had a 2 day trip with Eric and then a 1 day trip. As a result I got fantastic shots with him and from what I learnt I carried on getting great shots when I was on my own. He also introduced me to Cambodian coffee with sweet milk. Unreal !
I am already planning another trip with Eric next year. Will it be Banteay Chmmar , Pailin , Battambang , ...... who knows. Paul C / UK

This year we toured east of the Mekong for three nights and four days. Once again, Eric got me to places I'd never find on my own and helped me improve my photography, especially composition. As to my recommendation, all you need to know is that this was my sixth trip with Eric and I'll happily do another one the next time I'm in Cambodia. Thanks to Eric, I've had some great experiences, good laughs and I'm a better photographer. Greg FG / Eugene, Oregon
